Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Mahjong Pals. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use the service.

Privacy and tracking choices

Our privacy policy explains how we use and share information, including for advertising measurement. Accepting these terms does not grant iPhone tracking permission. Declining tracking does not limit access to gameplay, lessons or your membership.

Your account

You must be at least 13 to use Mahjong Pals, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to subscribe. Keep your password to yourself; what happens under your account is your responsibility. One account per person, and the information you give us has to be true.

Subscriptions and trials

Membership unlocks the lessons, practice puzzles and game tables described at checkout. The price, billing period and any introductory offer are shown before you purchase. Trials are available only when offered and when you are eligible; creating an account does not itself start a trial. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel renewal. After a trial, the displayed subscription price applies.

App Store purchases

Apple charges your Apple Account for subscriptions purchased in the iPhone app. Manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account subscription settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or billing period ends to avoid renewal. Uninstalling the app or deleting your Mahjong Pals account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Use Restore purchases in the app to recover an eligible purchase. RevenueCat helps us verify your subscription; access is linked to your Mahjong Pals account. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, subject to Apple's policies and applicable law. The iPhone app also uses Apple's standard licensed application EULA.

Website purchases

Stripe processes website subscriptions. Any website trial and payment method requirements are shown at checkout. Manage or cancel those subscriptions through your web account's billing portal. Contact support about website billing or refunds; your statutory consumer rights are unaffected. Existing eligible web memberships work in the app without a second subscription.

Deleting your account

In the iPhone app, open Account and choose Delete account. Deletion permanently removes your saved games, progress and social account. Cancel any Apple subscription separately before deleting if you no longer want it to renew. For website subscriptions we request cancellation before completing deletion. Some provider cleanup may finish after your account is removed, as described in our privacy policy. You can also contact support for account assistance.

Lanterns, badges, and other virtual goods

In-game currency and the things it buys are licensed to you, not sold. They have no money value, can't be cashed out, transferred, or traded outside the game, and can be changed, rebalanced, or discontinued as the game evolves. When an account closes, its virtual goods close with it.

Rules of use

Use the service as a person playing a game. Don't cheat, exploit bugs, automate play, scrape, probe, overload, or reverse engineer the service; don't harass other players or abuse the invite system; don't use the service to break a law. We fix exploited bugs without compensation for advantages lost.

Our content

Our original software, artwork, tile designs, lessons, and written content belong to Mahjong Pals or the respective licensors. We do not claim ownership of the underlying game rules. Third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used to identify the corresponding products or publishers.

Your license to use the service is personal, non-transferable, and for playing and learning. It does not grant a right to copy, resell, or republish protected content, except as permitted by law.

Termination

You can close your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse other players, or create risk for the service, with or without notice depending on severity. Sections of these terms that by their nature outlast an account (ownership, disclaimers, liability, disputes) survive it.

The service comes as it is

Mahjong Pals is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. Rules engines have bugs, bots misplay hands, and maintenance happens. We work on all three, and we promise none of their absence.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mahjong Pals is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of fifty dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don't allow parts of this section; where that's you, it applies as far as the law permits.

Indemnity

If your breach of these terms or misuse of the service gets us sued, you cover our reasonable costs and damages from that claim.

Disputes

Talk to us first; nearly everything resolves at support (mahjongpals.com/support or support@mahjongpals.com). If a dispute can't be resolved informally within sixty days, it goes to binding individual arbitration rather than court, except that either side may use small-claims court where the claim fits there. Disputes proceed individually, not as class or representative actions. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change in substance, we update the date above and notify account holders by email before the change applies. Using the service after a change takes effect accepts the changed terms.
